We have a great opportunity on offer to join Novus, our prison education provider at HMP High Down, working as a Functional Skills English and Maths Teacher. This position is offered on a part-time, fixed-term basis, working 32 hrs per week. This will be for on an initial period of 6-months, with potential to extend. Site information HMP High Down, located in Sutton, Surrey, is a Category B male prison known for its extensive history and modern facilities. It offers a range of facilities aimed at rehabilitation and education, ensuring that inmates have the support and resources they need to reintegrate into society upon release. What the role entails As a teacher, you will develop and deliver high quality, learner-focused education to meet contractual requirements and standards, in line with Novus policies and procedure; supporting learners and colleagues alike to ensure the best outcome for all who work within our sector. You'll be a self-starter with a passion to learn and grow yourself and will bring passion, dedication, and positivity to your new role. You will also be knowledge about the delivery of English and Maths functional skills from entry level to level 2. The following qualifications are listed as essential on the role profile. However, there might be options available for applicants with a suitable skillset and level of experience to apply and complete qualifications while in-post: Teaching qualification and where applicable, relevant subject specialist qualification - with a commitment to obtain the outstanding qualification within 12 months Level 2 qualification in Literacy and Numeracy Hold Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)/ Qualified Teacher Learning and Skills (QTLS) or commit to work towards within a specified timeframe (Applies to Teachers in YOI only) Colleague Benefits Successful candidates will be offered a salary between £29,047 - £38,124, plus £5000 LWA payment (FTE) per annum, dependent on your level of qualification and experience.
