Job Description Job Description To manufacture high quality Components, Sub – Assemblies, Jigs and Fixtures in an efficient and effective manner to support build and on time delivery of product. This will involve the use of both conventional and CNC machine tools as well as inspection tools and techniques. To continuously identify, investigate and implement improvements to manufacturing and assembly processes, therefore reducing manufacturing cost and improving service to internal and external customers. To generate and maintain manufacturing methods to assist machining processes and aid training. To provide technical and process support for all internal customers i.e. Design, PDA's, Process Engineering and MA's to improve quality of product through practical knowledge and experience. To supervise, train and mentor Apprentices and Manufacturing Operatives. Ensure safety and quality standards are maintained to required levels. Key Responsibility Areas Manufacture high quality Components, Sub – Assemblies, Jigs and Fixtures in an efficient and effective manner to support build and on time delivery of product. To support new product introduction and all development build requirements. Provide technical and process support for all internal customers i.e. Design, PDA's, Process Engineering and MA's to improve quality of product through practical knowledge and experience. To train Manufacturing Operatives in manufacturing/assembly processes being transferred to the production line. Provide supervision, training & coaching to Manufacturing Operatives and Apprentices to ensure best use of tools through having the appropriate skills to drive efficient and effective team working to achieve Team delivery targets. Proactively contribute inputs to process improvement to ensure continuous improvement within the manufacturing function. To operate conventional & CNC machine tools and use inspection tools and techniques, to support all aspects of infrared detectors build. To complete tasks, either written or verbal, with minimal supervision. Essential Skills, Qualifications & Knowledge Required Proven relevant technical proficiency either through qualification (HND/Degree) or equivalent experience and knowledge Fully conversant with designs and detailed engineering drawings prepared to ISO Standards Proficient with programming and operating both CNC and conventional machine tools Demonstrate the ability to set and check inspection equipment Capable of consistently producing repeatable, high accuracy output Ability to understand and generate written instructions and to record work performed. Ability to quickly perform tasks and perform well with small, low volume items of high value. Able to work in a team Ability to assess, review and understand complicated requirements with a minimum of documentation and to develop well documented processes Able to work with minimal supervision Excellent communication skills Ability to pass skills onto Engineers, Apprentices & Operators as required Able to assess a working environment and assist in process improvement Good communication skills Working with a wide variety of machine tools To take personal responsibility for the environment in which they work by keeping it clean, neat and tidy and by raising health and safety issues to the management's attention Desirable Experience with IR detector or vacuum technology Computer Literate – Basic Word, Excel, data input etc Proficient in the use of Heidenhain and Mazatrol software Proficient in the use of SAP Primary Location GB - Southampton Contract Type Hybrid Working Onsite
