Job Overview:
The Nursery Manager will be responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operations of the nursery, ensuring high standards of care and education, compliance with regulatory requirements, and the smooth running of the nursery. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in early years education and leadership, a passion for children’s development, and the ability to manage and motivate a team of childcare professionals.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Lead, manage, and motivate a team of nursery staff, ensuring high-quality care and education is consistently delivered.
2. Oversee the planning and implementation of the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) curriculum to meet the individual needs of all children.
3. Ensure the nursery meets all Ofsted and regulatory standards, maintaining the nursery’s excellent reputation.
4. Develop, implement, and review policies, procedures, and practices to ensure the smooth operation of the nursery.
5. Monitor and manage budgets, ensuring effective use of resources and maintaining financial sustainability.
6. Conduct regular staff appraisals, providing ongoing support, training, and development opportunities for the team.
7. Liaise with parents, providing regular updates on their children’s progress and maintaining strong relationships with families.
8. Handle day-to-day operational matters, including health and safety, staffing, and compliance with all regulations.
9. Develop and implement strategies to improve the nursery’s provision and drive continuous improvement.
10. Maintain accurate records of children’s progress and development, ensuring confidentiality at all times.
11. Stay informed of the latest trends, legislation, and best practices in early years education and childcare.
Qualifications and Skills:
1. Level 3 Early Years Educator qualification or equivalent as a minimum; higher qualifications such as a Level 5 or 6 in Early Years or a Foundation Degree in Early Childhood Studies is preferred.
2. Minimum of 1 years' experience in a leadership or management role within a childcare setting.
3. Strong knowledge of the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) framework and Ofsted standards.
4. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build positive relationships with staff, parents, and children.
5. Strong organisational and time-management skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities.
6. A passion for early years education and a genuine commitment to providing the best care for children.
7. Ability to manage budgets, financial records, and staffing schedules.
8. Knowledge of safeguarding, child protection policies, and health and safety regulations.
9. A clear, enhanced DBS check.
10. First Aid and Pediatric First Aid certification.
11. Experience working with children with additional needs.
12. Previous experience in managing or overseeing the operation of a nursery or early years setting.
