If this sounds like you, maybe a Support Worker role with an award-winning charity is the change you’ve been looking for At our Gateshead se rvice we support a young gentleman with severe Autism and a learning disability, who is non-verbal and profoundly deaf, to live the best life possible by providing person-centred support to promote his independence. Due to the support he requires, someone experienced in supporting a person with complex Autism would be ideal. The individual we support receives 2:1 support during the day, with a waking night and sleepover overnight. He enjoys spending time outside, particularly circling his garden for stimulation. He enjoys mealtimes and will let you know when he's ready to eat by bringing you his tray. The young man we support enjoys minimal community engagement and enjoys his own space and his own company. Routine and structure are very important to him and ensuring he feels calm and comfortable. His staff provide support with everyday living, with things like personal care, medication administration, financial planning, preparing meals and engaging in fun activities. We are looking for a flexible and reliable person to join the team, who is keen to support this young man to build independent living skills and ensure he is heard and supported to make his own choices. We provide support from Monday - Sunday and are currently recruiting for a 37.5 hour post. Our shifts include: 8am - 8pm 8am - 11pm sleepover 8pm - 8am (waking night) All staff are expected to work some overnights and weekends on a rota basis.
