The Component Repair team provides critically important support to a portfolio of operational Defence customers and Maintenance, Repair & Overhaul (MRO) facilities, with applications including Adour, EJ200, RB199, Gem, Gnome, Viper, Aero Tyne, Aero Spey, MTR390, MT30, Pegasus, TP400, Marine Spey and WR21. You will define, validate and support the implementation of repair instructions, inspection criteria, maintenance policies and procedures at component level. This will require the ability to solve problems, define requirements, and prepare repair definitions. You will have a good understanding of gas turbine technologies and repair processes. You will be required to work closely with other Engineering teams including Systems & Component Design, Materials Applications and Manufacturing- Engineering across the range of Defence products. What you will be doing Define, develop and substantiate Repair Instructions and Define acceptance standards for service run components. Co-ordinate the implementation of the Repair instructions at both internal and external Repair suppliers. Provide technical support to MRO operations both internally and externally in the delivery of component maintenance including disposition of unserviceable hardware. Continuously improve the processes and tools used to develop and support the definition of repair instructions. Who we’re looking for You will be educated to degree level in a STEM subject and/ or have experience in a relevant engineering environment (Mechanical, Aeronautical, Electrical or Controls). Other qualifications, in combination with relevant experience, may also be considered. A broad understanding of Gas Turbine technologies is desirable, but training will be provided to develop this. Candidates should possess strong technical and analytical skills, problem-solving ability, personal drive, excellent communication and presentation skills, and will need to contribute effectively in a team environment. Experience with Computer Aided Design software would be advantageous. You will also be required to manage multiple delivery commitments to varying timelines and customers Experience in the one or more of the following areas would be advantageous: Component manufacture, salvage or repair. Process / method validation and ongoing control. Material characterisation and analysis. Component Design and associated definitions including geometric dimensioning and tolerancing. Working in a Regulated industry. Repair / Inspection technologies. Industrial Engineering. Aftermarket Service / MRO business.
