Job overview

We are a large, busy department with over 180 members of staff including pharmacists, pharmacy technicians, pharmacy assistants, admin and clerical staff and apprentices. There are many varied roles and we all work as a team to provide the different functions and services whilst maintaining a high level of patient care.
Functions of the Pharmacy Department include the ordering, receipt and supply of medicines to wards and departments throughout the Trust/external units. This includes dispensing for inpatients, outpatients, community units and supplying ward stocks averaging around 2,500 items a day. Wards and external units are provided with a clinical service, with pharmacists and pharmacy technicians an integral part of the multidisciplinary team. The pharmacy provides Aseptic Services such as the preparation and supply of chemotherapy and other sterile products. We have a Quality Assurance team that works to ensure that our products are prepared and supplied to meet the highest quality standards.
Main duties of the job
We have an opportunity for an enthusiastic and motivated Pharmacy Aseptic Services Technician to join our pharmacy aseptic team. Please note: if you are close to qualifying as a Pharmacy Technician and are successful in gaining this post with us, you will be required to have completed 2 years of work experience with your current employer and gain registration with the General Pharmaceutical Council before you can start work with us.
Pharmacy Technicians and Science Manufacturing technicians are vital members of the pharmacy aseptic team who work closely with Pharmacists, Pharmacy Assistants and other staff within the Pharmacy and Trust.
You will be enthusiastic, have excellent communication skills and a genuine interest in developing your skills and knowledge. You will be expected to use several computer-based systems and, therefore, will have good IT skills.
The hours of work are 37.5 hours per week Monday to Friday with a current requirement to work one weekend day every ten weeks in the Dispensary and to cover three bank holidays annually in the Aseptic Services Unit.
