As part of the Catering Team, you will be responsible for providing an excellent and safe customer experience for students, staff, and visitors in all areas of the operation. This includes working weekends, half-terms, and late nights as required. You will use your skills, experience, and enthusiasm to further enhance the dining experiences offered, while maintaining your area of responsibility and ensuring smooth kitchen operations, including production, service, cleanliness, and customer experience.

Salary: £26,000- £28,000
Hours: Part time, either;
Week 1: Monday to Friday, 6:00 AM – 2:30 PM
Week 2: Wednesday to Friday, 6:00 AM – 2:30 PM, plus full-day shifts on Saturday and Sundayor

Week 2: Wednesday to Friday, 2:30 PM – 8:30 PM, plus full-day shifts on Saturday and Sunday
Key Responsibilities:
Daily Operations: Work closely with the Catering Manager to ensure the successful operation of the kitchen
Kitchen Closing: Responsible for closing the kitchen and dining areas after service
Administrative Duties: Complete all kitchen-related paperwork, including HACCP documentation, to ensure smooth operations
Food Preparation & Cooking: Prepare and cook food according to specifications and budget, maintaining quality and minimising waste
Customer Interaction: Provide a chef presence on the servery counters during meal service to enhance customer experience
Storage & Safety: Perform regular checks to ensure effective fridge and storage area management, following SFBB and EHO guidelines
Hygiene & Cleanliness: Ensure the cleanliness and hygiene of the kitchen, following COSHH regulations (1999) and the Food Safety Act (1990)
Stock Management: Order necessary provisions and anticipate future demands, carrying out stock checks and equipment inventories as needed
Compliance & Policies: Assist the Catering Manager in ensuring compliance with all policies and procedures, including Equal Opportunities, Safeguarding, Health & Safety, and Discipline
Accident Reporting: Ensure that all accidents and near accidents are reported according to the College policies
Equipment Maintenance: Ensure all kitchen and college equipment is maintained and operational
Requirements, Skills & Knowledge:
Experience: Minimum of NVQ Level 2 in cooking/food preparation or at least 3 years of experience in a similar role
Food Safety: Level 2 Food Safety certificate and strong knowledge of allergens and associated risks
Technical Skills: Working knowledge of SFBB and HACCP procedures
Catering Experience: Previous catering experience in a similar environment is desirable
Problem Solving: Ability to remain calm under pressure and provide consistent food quality
Stock Control: Experience with stock control is desirable
Leadership: Strong leadership and communication skills and the ability to make quick decisions in a fast-paced environment
Physical Requirements:
Must be able to work in any area of the kitchen as needed, including bending, standing, and walking throughout the day
Must be able to lift up to 30 pounds occasionally and up to 10 pounds frequently
Ability to work in both hot and cold environments due to ovens, fridges, and freezers
Other Duties:
Required to work across all sites as needed
Use Information and Learning Technology (ILT) as appropriate to their level of responsibility
