An experienced and customer focused Data Product Owner is required to lead and shape the data strategy within a Data Lakehouse program for a prominent client in the insurance sector. In this role, you will act as a driving force behind the development and optimization of data products, collaborating with cross-functional teams to advance reporting, data solutions, and governance initiatives within the Data Lakehouse ecosystem. Key Responsibilities: Product Ownership of Data Strategy: Take ownership of the client’s Data Strategy, ensuring that product goals are aligned with customer needs and broader data roadmap objectives. Customer Focused: Set goals based on customer needs, defining and prioritizing features that deliver value. Gather customer feedback to iterate and improve products, ensuring solutions are intuitive and easy to use. Stakeholder Partnership: Build strong relationships with business units, IT, and senior stakeholders, maintaining transparency with business leaders to align on priorities and deliver solutions that meet strategic objectives. Strategic Vision: Define the product vision and set a clear direction that aligns with company goals. Prioritize the backlog to balance immediate needs with the long-term vision of data products. Data Product Lifecycle Management: Lead the end-to-end lifecycle of data products, from initial requirements gathering to deployment and continuous improvement. Organized and Detail-Oriented: Manage the backlog effectively, keeping priorities aligned and organized. Maintain transparency in decisions and priorities to ensure stakeholder alignment. Cross-Functional Collaboration: Engage with teams across finance, underwriting, operations, and IT to translate business needs into actionable, data-driven requirements. Actively participate in Agile ceremonies to foster collaboration and team synergy. Data Quality and Integrity: Champion data quality by leading testing efforts, performing data analysis, and establishing best practices to ensure reliable, high-quality data products for end-users. Governance and Compliance: Drive the implementation of data governance frameworks to support data quality, lineage, and regulatory compliance within the Lakehouse environment. End-User Empowerment: Deliver training and support for data products and BI tools, fostering a data-driven culture and ensuring users leverage the full potential of the Lakehouse. Continuous Improvement: Identify opportunities for data reporting enhancements, new BI tool adoption, and process optimizations to maximize data efficiency and insights. Skills and Experience: Data Lakehouse Expertise: Demonstrated success managing Data Lakehouse or Warehouse products from initial analysis through full-scale implementation, ideally within the insurance sector. Product Ownership in Agile: Extensive experience as a Product Owner, Data Consultant, or Project Manager in an Agile environment, leading or collaborating within a scrum team. Effective Communicator: Skilled in building strong stakeholder relationships and managing good relationships with resolving entities while ensuring transparency with business leaders. Analytical and Detail-Oriented: High level of analytical skills and attention to detail, with a focus on data-driven decision-making. Data Modelling and Governance: Hands-on experience with data modelling, data lineage, and master data management. Desirable Technical Skills: Knowledge of Databricks, Azure Data Factory, Python, and Power BI is highly advantageous. Familiarity with system development life cycle methodologies, including Agile, Waterfall, and DevOps. This hybrid role requires periodic travel to client sites in the Midlands and London.
