Claxton are looking to hire an Apprentice Technician on a full time, permanent basis. Based at their facility in Westhill, Aberdeen, the Apprentice Technician will learn and be able to Operate, maintain and repair Claxton equipment, ensuring all equipment is serviced, repaired, maintained, and tested to the required standards. You will perform all activities safely and under the direction of both the Workshop Supervisor and Operations Manager.
Duties & Responsibilities
•Show full commitment & drive in the Claxton Apprenticeship Scheme, throughout all aspects of the SCQF Level 5 & Level 6 programmes.
•Actively seek tasks that assist in the progression and completion of the apprenticeship programme by collecting all relevant evidence and documentation in set timeframes.
•Communicate regularly with nominated assessor throughout Apprenticeship Programme.
•Attend all tuition courses and practical workshop studies a required and in accordance with apprenticeship training programme.
•Attend nominated place of work when not on tuition or practical duties as required.
•Work respectfully and demonstrate a strong teamwork ethos with all employees, customers, and clients in the workplace in line with Acteon’s Values.
•Assist with the repair, maintenance and operation of diesel drive high pressure pumps, hydraulic power units, hose spoolers and a wide range of subsea cutting, cleaning, coating removal & dredge tooling.
•Maintain work packs, ensuring documentation is accurate and updated as work on the equipment is progressed.
•Be able to read and understand assembly drawings, bill of materials and hydraulic schematics.
•Recognise the status and certification requirements of Claxton equipment and action accordingly.
•Co-operate with 3rd party inspection services in accordance with requirements.
•General workshop tasks.
•Be responsible for your own safety and the safety of others within the workplace, working in safe, tidy, and efficient manner.
•Participate in ongoing continuous improvement initiatives such as 5S.
•Take responsibility/ownership of own training plans and evidence collation.
Requirements
•Good standard of education, Higher Maths & English or NAT 5.
•Good practical knowledge of mechanical and hydraulic equipment is an advantage.
•Worked in a similar environment would be beneficial.
•Computer literate, able to use Microsoft Word, Excel
•Good communication skills.
•Able to work on own initiative or as part of a team.
•Takes responsibility for work allocated and driven to deliver an excellent service.
•Effective decision maker with demonstrable analytical and problem-solving skills.
•Self-motivated.
•Approachable with a positive attitude.
•Eligibility to work in the UK.
