Mechanical Systems Engineer – ICE
Derbyshire, UK
Programme: Hydrogen engine and ICE design and development
* Roles exist from engineer to senior grade (£40,000 - 60,000)
Several roles exist for proven mechanical design engineers to join an established engine manufacturing company in Derbyshire, UK.
Overview: Mechanical Systems Engineer – Hydrogen engine and ICE
The positions will involve systems design engineering and would suit mechanical design engineers that can work at systems level rather than detailed design. (i.e. this is not a CAD or CAE role) It would suit engineers that have worked on engine fuel systems within automotive OEMs or tier 1 companies.
The position will involve the systems design of automotive engine systems for hydrogen or diesel combustion engine projects.
This will include systems specification, creating of test and validation plans, design tolerances, DFMEA and problem-solving activities, etc. It will also involve working with suppliers that will provide detailed level designs.
Experience in one or more of the following engine design disciplines would be preferred - Valvetrain design (DOHC / SOHC, etc), Gears (timing drive design), CCV (Crank case ventilation), Aftertreatment (e.g., DEF etc), Fuel system, Air handling (e.g., intake manifold, throttle, etc), Major castings, etc.
Required experience / knowledge: Mechanical Systems Engineer – Hydrogen engine and ICE
* A degree or higher qualification (or equivalent) in a relevant subject (e.g. mechanical design, automotive engineering, motorsport, agricultural engineering, etc)
* Minimum of 3 years of mechanical systems design experience gained post academia (gasoline / diesel / H2 engines or very similar)
* Experience of the design of engine systems for applications such as automotive, motorsport, agriculture, rail / rolling stock, marine, power generation, etc.
* Experience of systems level design and processes (technical specifications, breaking down requirements, validation activities, DFMEA, DVP&R, 8D problem solving, etc)
Others (beneficial): Mechanical Systems Engineer – Hydrogen engine and ICE
* Experience in one or more of the following engine design disciplines would be preferred - Valvetrain design (DOHC / SOHC, etc), Gears (timing drive design), CCV (Crank case ventilation), Aftertreatment (e.g., DEF etc), Fuel system, Air handling (e.g., intake manifold, throttle, etc), Major castings, etc.
Note, the Mechanical Systems Engineer – Hydrogen engine and ICE roles are office based in Derbyshire.
Relocation and work visa assistance may be provided for well aligned candidates. The roles are commutable from Rocester, Stoke on Trent, Derby, Nottingham, Birmingham, Uttoxeter, Stafford, and Burton
