Health & Safety Advisor Location : Basildon, Essex. Due to ongoing growth, they are seeking a dedicated Health & Safety Advisor to join their dynamic team. Role Overview: The Health & Safety Advisor will be responsible for overseeing health and safety processes across various projects. You will play a vital role in ensuring compliance with industry regulations and improving safety standards across all operations. This includes conducting site inspections, preparing risk assessments, auditing safety systems, and providing guidance to internal teams and subcontractors. Key Responsibilities: Safe Systems of Work : Prepare and review Safe Systems of Work (SSOW), Task Briefing Sheets, COSHH assessments, and manual handling assessments. Site Inspections : Perform regular site visits and inspections to monitor safety practices and ensure compliance with health and safety regulations. Stakeholder Guidance : Provide expert advice and practical solutions on health and safety issues to stakeholders at all levels of the organisation. Internal Audits : Conduct internal audits on the company’s ISO 9001, 14001, and 45001 management systems to ensure ongoing certification and compliance. External Audits : Participate in external audits conducted by UKAS certification bodies and clients. Incident Management : Develop action plans to prevent the recurrence of near misses, incidents, or accidents. Investigate and report on these events as necessary. Subcontractor Audits : Audit and monitor subcontractor performance to ensure alignment with health and safety requirements. Staff Mentoring : Provide guidance and mentoring to operatives, helping them to develop their skills and understanding of health and safety. Reporting : Produce monthly health and safety performance reports, highlighting key metrics and areas for improvement. Candidate Requirements: Qualifications : NEBOSH Construction or General Certificate (essential). Sentinel Card with WSI (London Underground) (preferred but not required). Experience : Previous experience in a Health & Safety advisory role, preferably within the rail or construction industry. Solid understanding of ISO 9001, 14001, and 45001 standards. Skills : Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to influence and guide at all levels. Analytical and proactive in identifying potential risks and implementing effective solutions. Organised with the ability to handle multiple tasks and manage time effectively.
