About the role:
Here at John Lewis Financial Services we are looking to appoint a Pricing Lead to develop and implement an Insurance Pricing Strategy that aligns with the overarching Business Strategy of John Lewis Financial Services. You will also oversee and manage the Insurance Pricing and Analytics teams, ensuring the effective delivery of insurance pricing artifacts and processes.
This is a great time to join the business and you will have the autonomy to lead the creation of our Pricing function, setting the foundation and direction of this newly formed area. You will be a key member of the Insurance Broking Leadership team and will contribute to the strategic development of our proposition.
Key responsibilities:
* Managing the development of the pricing team, promoting both technical skills and business understanding.
* Accountable to local management, the board of directors, and other governance committees as necessary.
* Assuming the role of Chairperson of the Pricing Committee.
* Taking full responsibility for maintaining compliance with all applicable regulations.
* Ensuring the accurate implementation of pricing strategies.
* Producing accurate and timely management information (MI) and business intelligence (BI) reports, as well as analysis and insights, for the pricing team and the wider organization.
* Making recommendations of pricing actions to adopt, with a particular focus on generating insights and value from our proprietary retail data.
* Providing Partners with an opportunity to contribute their perspectives and ideas to the business.
* Dedicating yourself to your personal and professional development, serving as a role model for all Partners.
* Utilising insights and networks, both internal and external, to remain informed about key customer requirements, market conditions, and trends, including technological advancements.
* Assuming responsibility for business processes, frameworks, and tools within your area of responsibility, continuously enhancing them to improve efficiency and effectiveness.
What will you be doing?
* You will have the ownership of developing and implementing pricing strategies for the motor and home insurance portfolios.
* Responsible for developing and maintaining mathematical models that enable precise optimisation across specified time horizons.
* Ownership of the development of the pricing strategy to guarantee alignment with the company's overall business strategy.
* Responsible for monitoring pricing performance to identify strengths, weaknesses, opportunities, and threats, and taking appropriate action.
Essential skills you'll need:
* An appropriate degree in a relevant field such as Mathematics and Statistics.
* Previous experience in motor and home street pricing or be qualified through previous experience.
* Experience in developing predictive models for general insurance utilising Price Optimisation software (such as Willis Towers Watson or Earnix).
* Demonstrable knowledge of general insurance principles, products, and practices.
* Comprehensive understanding of relevant regulations, particularly GIPP and Consumer Duty.
* Proven ability in leading and developing teams.
* Strategic and innovative thinker with the ability to anticipate and respond to regulatory changes.
* Comprehensive business judgment and ability to resolve complex issues with practical solutions.
* Proven capability to operate effectively at all levels and gain the trust and confidence of colleagues and senior management.
Desirable skills you'll have:
* Experience of working for an Insurance Broker and setting prices for Price Comparison Websites.
* Machine learning or data science experience.
* Familiarity with CDL Strata, Kingfisher, Hummingbird, Goldfinch, and RTP.
