We’re looking for someone to unlock access to Scotland’s history and heritage. Working for Historic Environment Scotland (HES), this role as a fixed term Product Manager is ideal for a confident decision maker who is able to quickly understand complexity and solve problems. The product is trove.scot, a new platform which brings together HES’s unique and diverse collections in one convenient place. You will lead the continuous improvement of this ambitious, externally facing website platform which launched in 2025. About the role This post sits within the Marketing and Engagement Directorate which encompasses communications, marketing, learning, commercial activity, and visitor experiences. You will report directly to the Head of Corporate Communications. The trove.scot Product Manager is responsible for leading a small internal team and an external supplier in the delivery of continuous improvement of the website. You will work with the key stakeholders to ensure that their requirements are understood and that they are involved in roadmap planning, user acceptance testing (UAT) and promotional activity. You will take an active leadership role in coordinating the Steering Group and agreeing product priorities, reaching alignment across multiple areas of the organisation through evidence-based decisions and research. About you • Proven experience of leading and delivering user-focussed projects • Experience of working with heritage information, data and / or archives • Knowledge of HES websites, such as: trove.scot, Canmore, the Portal, SCRAN, Buildings at Risk Register and the Dictionary of Scottish Architects • An understanding of the importance of historic environment information to our external audiences and our colleagues • Supplier engagement and management • Working in an Agile development methodology - including working in Sprints and writing user stories/acceptance criteria • Ability to take on responsibility and use your own initiative to prioritise and work effectively under pressure and to tight deadlines • Proven negotiating and influencing skills to build partnerships and relationships • Ability to engage professionally and positively with all business areas (to a senior level) and provide credible advice • Ability to understand and solve problems • Proven people skills • Strong verbal and written communication skills Desirable : • Experience of enhancing digital customer services • Experience of working with our different online user groups • Creativity – a good eye for design • Experience of promoting a culture of accessibility and inclusiveness • Experience of identifying risks and aligned mitigation Interested?
