Band 8a – Advanced Pharmacist (IMHT East Staffs)
An exciting opportunity has arisen for an Advanced Pharmacist to work within the Integrated Mental Health Team in East Staffordshire covering Burton & Uttoxeter.
This has been aligned to the new models of care outlined by the NHS Mental Health Implementation Plan 2019-2024 and the Community Mental Health Framework, which sets out the requirements to develop such innovative integrated models of primary mental health care.
The role is a new and innovative project working directly within the community team. The role will focus on working within the service to ensure medicines optimisation and prescribing, under relevant legislation and guidance, are at the forefront practice.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Build close working relationships with stakeholders in the local primary care network and aligned pharmacy services.
2. Manage own caseload and time working with individuals with mental health disorders in a community setting.
3. Be a source of specialist advice and training in medicines for other healthcare professions, service users, and carers in order to optimise pharmaceutical care.
4. Develop and support clinical pharmacy audit and practice research within the field of mental health and specifically complex emotional needs.
5. Undertake independent prescribing and medication consolidation as appropriate for individual patients.
6. Participate in the evaluation of own services and establish key performance indicators to monitor patient outcomes and performance.
7. Deliver education and training on mental health pharmaceutical issues to various health and social care professionals.

The successful applicant will already have excellent engagement, communication, and medication counselling skills. They will have experience of working with individuals with severe and enduring mental illness, including having managed their own caseload. The post holder will be able to build relationships and work closely with local community Pharmacists and General Practitioners within the Primary Care Network.
This is a specific yet rewarding role and will enable the successful applicant to work within a multi-disciplinary community team and have direct patient contact.
The ideal candidate will be within a multidisciplinary community mental health team (CMHT), working closely with specialist clinicians to optimise medication and improve treatment outcomes for people with mental health conditions. You will receive professional support via a well-structured system of supervision and regular educational and CPD sessions.
The successful applicant should be competent in auditing, undertaking, action planning, and presenting projects in line with targeted quality indicators.
Working Monday to Friday 9am – 5pm and requires travel across a large geographical area; access to suitable transport is required. #J-18808-Ljbffr
