The Role We are seeking an experienced Family Assessment Social Worker to join our dedicated team. In this role, you will work directly with families residing at our centre, conducting in-depth assessments in accordance with individual care plans. Key Responsibilities Conduct comprehensive parenting assessments in line with best practice and childcare legislation. Provide detailed, evidence-based reports to support care planning and court proceedings. Work directly with parents and children to assess parenting capacity and identify areas for improvement. Identify and manage risks effectively, ensuring child safety remains the top priority. Collaborate with multi-agency professionals to ensure coordinated support for families. Participate in team meetings, supervisions, and ongoing training. Contribute to the management team and be part of the on-call rota as required. Essential Requirements A Diploma or Degree in Social Work (DipSW) or equivalent. Registration with Social Work England (SWE). Experience working in children's social care, such as looked-after children’s teams, safeguarding teams, or family support services. Excellent report-writing and verbal communication skills. Proven experience in preparing reports for court proceedings. Ability to assess, evaluate, and manage risk effectively. Full UK driving licence with access to a car and business insurance. Desirable Skills & Attributes Reflective and creative approach to practice. Strong knowledge of childcare law and safeguarding issues. Experience in conducting parenting assessments. Ability to make objective professional assessments of children, young people, and families. Strong analytical skills to address complex family situations. Ability to communicate effectively and creatively with children. Team player with excellent interpersonal skills.
