About the Role:
We are seeking a passionate and experienced Phonics Teacher to work with students in Key Stages 3 and 4 who require additional support to develop their literacy skills. This permanent, full-time role starting in September offers a unique opportunity for a primary-trained teacher to bring their expertise to a secondary school environment.
Key Responsibilities:
* Deliver targeted phonics lessons to students requiring literacy intervention, using proven strategies and phonics programmes.
* Plan, deliver, and assess lessons tailored to individual student needs, ensuring engagement and progress.
* Work closely with subject teachers, SEND staff, and the pastoral team to integrate phonics learning into the broader curriculum.
* Use assessment tools to monitor progress and adjust teaching strategies accordingly.
* Build students' confidence and enthusiasm for reading and writing, fostering a love of learning.
* Contribute to the development of whole-school literacy initiatives.
What We're Looking For:
* Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) with primary training.
* Proven experience teaching phonics at primary level, ideally using schemes such as Read Write Inc., Letters and Sounds, or Jolly Phonics.
* Passionate about literacy and committed to improving outcomes for students with varying levels of ability.
* Experience supporting students with SEND or EAL is highly desirable.
* Strong communication and collaboration skills to work effectively in a secondary school environment.
* Flexible, innovative, and eager to adapt primary teaching expertise to secondary learners.
