Controls Systems Engineer, Mechatronics & Sustainable Packaging Customer Experience (MSP-CX) MSP-CX is searching for a System Development Engineer to be a part of our global team to deliver the next generation of world-class fulfillment systems through the use of advanced technology. Successful candidates are natural self-starters who have prior engineering experience in the integrated automation project life cycle, including development, design, implementation, enhancement, and support. System Development Engineers will be part of a full product life cycle and responsible for successful delivery of units for development and operations. You will serve as a liaison between Fulfillment Center Operations (our customer), product design and development engineers. This role will require the ability to build relationships across a cross functional team capturing and synthesizing the voice of the customer. Their primary goal is to own the field activities integrating, deploying, and troubleshooting solutions for new mechatronics systems and packaging technology; act as a liaison for internal and external resources and be on call as needed to support downtime events. This position will also provide proper training and support to facility controls technicians on system troubleshooting and preventive maintenance to focus on the system performance improvement and optimization. In parallel with the Deployment Teams you will support performance ramp of the technology deployment at scale. You are able to take the lead on the implementation and delivery of complex system designs and MSP technology in ambiguous and complex problem spaces. You integrate systems for safety, security, stability, and efficiency. You participate in the full system development life cycle, working within broadly defined parameters, including test plan execution and solution quality needs. Key job responsibilities Responsibilities include: Work with internal Amazon teams and external vendors to deliver innovations within automation (controls and software scope) and technology developments for our CAPEX projects: Deploy, commission, and implement mechatronic control systems within the PLC, controls and software areas. Be responsible for the commissioning, integration, FAT and SAT activities of Robotics technologies in the field Conduct multiple weekly meetings with internal teams and vendors to plan and track deliverables Deep dive on technical details and lead problem resolution when needed. Communicate project status in a way that drives and elevates decision making. Work in close collaboration with internal Amazon teams across multiple time zones. Coordinate information between various teams in the organization and work very closely with Ops Engineering, IT, Software, RME and Operations. A day in the life Establish and maintain a safe work environment following all local and Amazon specific standards and requirements. Support the installation of complex cross-functional projects with considerable impact. Projects may span organizations or geographies in support of a business objective. Work independently with internal and external engineering teams to successfully deliver cross-functional projects that are of a high-quality (e.g., on-time, on-budget, maintainable, low-defects, etc.). Setting project priorities, establish milestones, and drive schedules to meet a deadline. Responsible to deep dive technical solutions that encompass MSP solutions, conveyor hardware selection, material handling integration, and vendor commissioning content and expectations. BASIC QUALIFICATIONS Knowledge of systems engineering fundamentals (networking, storage, operating systems) Experience (non-internship) in professional software development Experience designing or architecting (design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and existing systems Experience in networking, storage systems, operating systems and hands-on systems engineering Experience programming with at least one modern language such as C++, C#, Java, Python, Golang, PowerShell, Ruby PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS Experience with PowerShell (preferred), Python, Ruby, or Java Experience working in an Agile environment using the Scrum methodology
