Talley’s is proudly New Zealand-owned and operated. We run seven deep-sea fishing vessels with primarily Kiwi crews bringing the best New Zealand seafood to the world. We’re currently looking for a qualified experienced Second Engineer for our fishing vessel Amaltal Explorer.

About the role
The successful applicant must hold a minimum of a MEC5 Ticket and at least 2 years' experience on similar vessels.
In this role, you will take direction from the Chief Engineer and be responsible for carrying out watch-keeping duties, and maintenance of the ship's machinery, equipment and structure.
You would be at sea for 6-8 weeks at a time, so you will be working every day during the trip. You will be scheduled to one trip on, one trip off – and while you’re at home on your trip off, you’ll still be fully paid.
Conditions can be challenging so being fit and healthy is a must. While onboard you will have a comfortable cabin, with an ensuite, and most of our fleet have an onboard gym, WIFI and plenty of space to relax in your downtime.
Skills/Experience Needed
1. Commitment to preventative maintenance systems
2. A high standard and awareness to health and safety
3. Great attention to detail and a high level of enthusiasm
4. Ability to communicate well and build good relationships
5. Having proven experience working on vessels with refrigeration systems is essential
6. Problem-solving skills
7. Supervisory and training experience
