What’s the role? We’re looking for an energetic and hands-on Relief Driver/Yard Operative to join us on a permanent basis. This is a dynamic dual-role where no two days are the same! You’ll hit the road, covering our 3.5t delivery and collection vehicles, as well as our 7.5t toilet servicing vehicles, stepping in during staff holidays or absences. When you’re not driving, you'll roll up your sleeves in our busy accommodation yard, where you’ll be involved in cleaning, repairing, maintaining, and painting our portable accommodation and welfare units, ensuring they’re always in top condition for our clients.
About The Role
Key Responsibilities:
* Relief Driver: Step in as a relief driver for the delivery and collection of hire equipment, operating vehicles up to 3.5t, including the potential to tow mobile welfare units. You’ll also cover duties as a site toilet service operator, driving vehicles up to 7.5t.
* Hands-On Yard Work: Assist in the cleaning, repair, and painting of portable site accommodation and toilet units, applying basic plumbing and DIY skills to keep everything in top condition.
* Loading and Unloading: Help with the loading and unloading of vehicles, both manually and using a forklift.
* Chemical Toilet Maintenance: Handle the cleaning and emptying of chemical toilets as part of the job.
* Yard Maintenance: Keep the yard and workshop areas clean, organised, and safe to work in at all times.
Skills and Experience:
* Clean Driving License: You must hold a clean UK driving license with the ability to drive vehicles up to 7.5t GVW.
* Driver CPC Qualification: A valid Driver CPC qualification and card are essential. You’ll also need to attend an annual Driver CPC training course (held one Saturday per year).
* DIY Skills: Good basic DIY skills are required, especially for minor repairs and maintenance of portable units.
* Towing Requirement: Holding a B+E entitlement (for towing) is essential, as you'll be required to tow mobile welfare units on a 3.5t vehicle as part of your duties.
* Tachograph Knowledge: Experience with tachographs would be beneficial, though not essential.

* Local Area Knowledge: Familiarity with the local Basildon area, including London, would be beneficial for route planning.
