Ranger - Macclesfield Summary INTERNAL APPLICANTS ONLY PLEASE As a Ranger, you’re a champion of nature conservation and the great outdoors, and you’ll play a crucial role in keeping the nation’s beloved countryside and coast in good shape, for wildlife and for people. You should be willing to work some weekends, bank holidays and evenings. You will occasionally be required to work at different locations. You’ll be joining a small team and as such will need to be self-motivated, self-reliant and have the ability to work alone, or with small groups of volunteers. This role requires you to have a full UK driving licence. Interview date: Wednesday 23rd April What it's like to work here Hare Hill Estate is a 19th century estate, with a tranquil woodland garden, surrounded by parkland, and a delightful walled garden at its heart. The team of three have a diverse range of challenges within the role. This is an opportunity to gain experience in many aspects of working for the Trust. As a Ranger within the Cheshire & Wirral Countryside Portfolio you will be part of a team responsible for the day-to-day care of 17 countryside sites spread from the Northern end of the Wirral peninsula to the edge of the Peak District. Habitats include woodland, lowland heath, agricultural land, and coastal meadow. Because of the large distances between sites, the portfolio is split East and West and you’ll be joining the team based in the East, with your main place of work being Hare Hill. As we are a small team there will be occasions when you’ll be the sole member of staff and be responsible for the supervision of volunteers or be the only point of contact. Click here for more information about this location What you'll be doing You’ll be helping to protect and care for habitats, wildlife, buildings and machinery. You’ll pass on your knowledge and enthusiasm to encourage others to love this area as much as you do. Whenever and wherever you come across people, you’ll take the time to talk to them and answer their questions, rather than rushing away to the next task. You’ll make sure that the conservation work and outdoor experiences on the land in your care are of the highest standard. You’ll build relationships in the local community, proudly representing the Trust and letting people know about the work you and the team are doing.
