The Supported Learning Department at CRC educates and cares for our most vulnerable students. Every day is different, and TAs can be supporting our students in a wide range of subjects that help to promote their confidence, independence, employability, and self-reliance. You could be working with students in our college garden, with small animals, or doing art, drama, music, or woodwork skills, as well as supporting in cooking lessons and Maths and English.
We are ideally seeking candidates who have experience working in a special education setting or may wish to make the move from primary education or social care. A knowledge of supporting students working at Entry level and gathering evidence via RARPA would be an advantage.
As part of the role, you will:
1. Support students with a range of learning difficulties and other disabilities.
2. Enable reasonable adjustments to help students to engage.
3. Mentor students and encourage them to remain on task.
4. Model skills so that the student can understand the tasks.
5. Assist with Personal Care and health needs.
6. Promote our college values.
CRC is a really exciting place to work, and as we grow, we are looking for caring, personable, and empathetic Teaching Assistants with a real flair for empowering young people to join our Learning Support team.
Minimum Requirements:
1. GCSE English grade C / 4 or equivalent - or willing to work towards gaining this qualification.
2. Happy to undergo relevant training.
3. Enjoy working across college faculties, i.e., supporting students on a variety of courses.
4. Have recent and demonstrable experience of working with people with special education needs (desirable, but not essential).
5. A positive 'can do' attitude, sensitive to others' needs, patient, and reliable.
6. A team player yet also able to work independently.
7. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
These TA opportunities would either suit someone looking for a new, more flexible role within learning support where they are only working term-time and/or someone keen to transfer existing skills, such as from the care sector, and build a career in supported learning. Full training and support provided for our Teaching Assistant roles.
