The opportunity has arisen within West Lothian Council, Housing, Customer & Building Services for a dynamic, self-motivated and enthusiastic Housing Assistant to join our team to deliver a high-quality housing management service. This is an excellent opportunity to join our team following recent organizational changes. The successful applicant will be expected to:
1. Provide tenancy management support to tenants to achieve sustainable tenancies, including maximisation of income management and intervening early to prevent arrears escalation.
2. Provide comprehensive housing advice by proactively working with tenants and new customers on housing solutions through the personal housing planning approach.
3. Proactively work in your team and with others in HCBS/Council to deliver a high standard of service delivery to meet tenant needs and aspirations, achieving sustainable tenancies and communities.
4. Ensure that the council’s policies and procedures are implemented to the required standards.
Essential qualifications include a Chartered Institute of Housing Level 2 qualification or equivalent, or recent relevant experience of working in a frontline customer-focused environment.
Applicants must have highly developed communication skills, with the ability to communicate effectively at all levels, and the ability to record and report information accurately and concisely both verbally and in writing.
Work effectively under pressure with the ability to prioritise your own workload, and possess a good knowledge of various IT packages.
This post is subject to the Council’s flexible working policies and operates on a hybrid basis. The role will also have access to a Pool Car to undertake business-related travel as per the Council’s Green Travel working policies.
