About Us and the Role Building Transformation are a Bedford-based market-leading specialist external building and roof maintenance service provider. We provide our clients with a complete external building fabric maintenance solution throughout the UK. We work on large commercial, listed, tall, challenging to access and industrial buildings, undertaking planned roof maintenance and refurbishment projects. Our service delivery spans across the hotel sector and MOD estate, so you must be able to work in high security environments. DBS checks will apply. Within these sectors, we currently undertake a wide variety of roofing works including planned roof and gutter maintenance solutions; repairs; replacement and lining; liquid-based roof coatings; roof sheet/cladding sheet replacement; as well as some more traditional leadworks and tile replacement works. We are looking for a L1 or L2 rope access technician to support the delivery of small and large projects on commercial, listed buildings and structures. Ranging from hands-on technical surveys, building inspections, supporting safety and rigging planning, site visits and audits to full project delivery. We are looking for a technician to support the growth of our rope access works throughout London the Southeast and UK. If you take pride in your work, are detail focused and looking for variety and growth, contact us You will enjoy working on a variety of buildings, both historic and modern, having a wide range of experience working with external building fabric, undertaking surveys, inspection, assessing defects, undertaking repairs, redecoration, and refurbishment projects. You will appreciate the technical challenges when undertaking restoration on such buildings, as well as access issues, rescue, programming, etc. You will support the onsite delivery of rope access projects and work closely with our L3 Rope Access Supervisors’ and Rope Access Manager. Your level of technical and practical knowledge may be limited, but you will grow into the role and learn from your team members. You will be a confident communicator and able to support a rope access team, set the right level of rigging standards, safety, support, motivate and lead by example. You will be expected to suitably update your Site Supervisor and carry out tasks as they direct. To be successful, you must have a minimum of one year’s experience as a qualified L1 or L2. Your approach to solving practical onsite issues is key, your ability to support staff onsite with technical support with a variety of practical solutions, monitor and maintain quality of the project is essential. Further training will be provided for the correct candidate. Key Responsibilities of the Role: Follow direction of Supervisors’ and implement safe working practices in accordance with IRATA ICOP. Carry out duties as directed by Site Supervisors to ensure the highest standards of safety, quality of workmanship and efficiency. Support the project team in line with agreed KPI’s. Listen, understand and carry out works as per risk & method statements, rescue plans and re-active statements of work. Monitor and inspect progress of work, map and update digital software. Support management of programme, working with site manager for updates. Support development of strong systems of work and clear instruction plans for rope access team. Provide continuous updates, schedules, progress and improvements to internal site team. Ensure Site Supervisor is continuously updated and key alerts mapped. Positively communicate with onsite teams and back office staff. Undertake technical inspections where required and quality control checks. Support with listed building works and material selection. Achieve requirements of daily project delivery targets, and provide solutions where required. Objectively identify areas of project improvement and feedback to business. Adhere to systems and procedures to ensure total client satisfaction upon completion. Attitude, Skills, Experience and Attributes: IRATA Level 1 / Level 2 qualification (essential). At least one year’s experience working as a L1 or L2, preferably on commercial and listed buildings. Specific façade refurbishment, masonry / redecoration skills would be an advantage but is not essential. Sound knowledge of H&S practices and risk management. Confident reading technical drawings, measuring and sourcing materials for works. Delivering safe, well planned and effective working practices. Proven track record of providing professional, technical and practical project support. Able to assist in development of technical repairs, product search and replacement specifications where needed. Additional qualifications and/or experience in construction / refurbishment projects would be an advantage but are not essential. You will be organised, with a positive problem-solving approach to daily tasks. Flexibility and adaptability are essential working with us, as is teamwork. The Offer This role is offered on a temp to perm, 6 to 12-month fixed contract, flexible. A starting salary between £39,000 and £46,000 per annum, DOE and qualifications. 22 days holiday allowance, plus the 8 bank holidays. A 6-month probationary period.
