The Trust is looking for a General Paediatric with special interest in gender dysphoria and complex adolescence to lead the development of the CYP Gender Service at UHS for a 12 month secondment period.
General paediatrics
The consultant will contribute to the provision of the General Paediatric group job plan. Individual consultants within general paediatrics have slightly varying job plans depending on their own particular expertise and special interests.
Subspecialty Interest
This post is specifically to lead the development of the CYP Gender Service at UHS and therefore interest and experience in gender dysphoria is essential.

WHAT YOU’LL DO
• Providing clinical leadership to the Gender Service, with shared accountability for all aspects of service performance, including the delivery of operational KPIs (Key Performance Indicator) and financial management
• Working closely with the Programme Manager and Divisional Management team in ensuring that a safe and effective service to children and young people is always delivered, in line with national and locally agreed standards ensuring effective and efficient use of resources
• Actively participating in national developments relating to gender development, learning from others as well as influencing based on the experience of leading a Gender Service for children and young people
• Working collaboratively with external agencies including all NHS provider organisations working in the Northern and Southern Hub services, other service providers, NHS England, and adult gender services
• Supporting the development of the medical workforce including the job planning and appraisal process
• Leading medical education activities within the service and where appropriate to the wider Trust and other agencies
• Contributing to clinical networks both internal and external to the organisation
