About The Role
Are you passionate about making a difference in the lives of children and families? Do you have the drive to support and empower young people to achieve their full potential? If so, Birmingham Children’s Trust wants you!
Working in the Trust gives you the opportunity to acquire a diverse set of professional experiences; and exceptional professional development. You will have a manageable caseload, which is underpinned by strong management and support networks.
Working in Birmingham means you will have the benefit of two office bases in the North and South of the city: Lifford House and Avenue Road are purpose-built offices that have been newly refurbished and offer plenty of off-road parking. You will be joining a team of dedicated social workers and managers who are very committed to their roles but who are also very warm and welcoming to newly appointed staff.
If you choose to join us,
* You will be able to ‘do the job you came into social work to do’. We are part of an independent organisation, which enables us to focus, single-mindedly on the safety and welfare of children and young people across the city. As a social worker for children in care, you will have the opportunity to build strong and lasting relationships with children and young people to support them in stable and loving homes where they can achieve their aspirations and goals.
* You will work within our relationship-based, strengths-oriented, family-led practice model. We will look to you to analyze information to make informed decisions. You will complete assessments in line with statutory requirements, implementing, monitoring, and reviewing children’s wellbeing within multi-agency meetings.
* Our services will always be joined-up and you will develop robust partnerships with other teams and outside agencies, including the police, health, schools, and voluntary organisations.
* You will need an approved social work qualification and be registered with Social Work England. On a personal level, you will bring great communication, analytical, and problem-solving skills and calmness under pressure.
Our recent Ofsted Focused visit (Nov24) found us to be:
* Many children benefit from meaningful relationships with social workers who have taken time to build strong and caring relationships with them. Social workers demonstrate a real curiosity and passion to ensure they listen to children and are effective in meeting their needs.
* Social workers are positive about the support they receive from managers and leaders at all levels. Caseloads are manageable, and social workers report feeling well supported in their practice, enabling them to develop meaningful relationships with children.
