Job overview
Our Ward Clerk will support the operation of Delivery Suit and John MacPherson Ward by providing dedicated administrative and clerical support to the clinical staff as part of the multi-disciplinary team, ensuring that a welcoming and professional greeting and reception service is provided to patients and visitors, whilst ensuring the smooth running of the admission and discharge process with a timely and accurate completion of all ward IT systems.
They will act as a key point of liaison within the ward for Midwifery and Medical staff and other internal and external health professions, who will be fundamental to the delivery of the day to day operation of the ward, responsible for the delivery of first-class services to women and their families.

Working for our organisation
The Women’s Health Unit houses the 8 bedded labour ward and has a delivery rate of 2500 per annum. There is a dedicated Theatre within the labour ward and also facilities for water births. A 24-hour epidural service is available and a dedicated Consultant Anaesthetist is available for all morning sessions. There is a well-equipped ante-natal clinic with 3 ultrasound rooms and a Day Assessment Unit. There is an Obstetric ward with a transitional care Baby Unit. The midwifery team are based in the community and well established with approximately 10% of the deliveries, out of Hospital.
Detailed job description and main responsibilities
* Ensure that all patient records and investigation results are available when required by the nursing and medical staff
* Accurately record admissions, transfers and discharges on SystemOne and PAS, ensuring pathways are correct
* Responsible for all patient notes within the ward, ensuring drug charts, CTGs and other loose filing are filed appropriately and securely
* Liaise with other departments and wards re elective beds and patient management as required
* Register out of area emergency admissions and transfers, inputting all clinical data on SystemOne
