Detailed job description and main responsibilities The Emergency Department Technician role is a relatively new role that has been evolving within the Luton and Dunstable Emergency Department team for the past 5 years. Part of the Emergency department quality indicators are that patients are seen and triaged within 15 minutes, so having technicians aiding the qualified nursing staff within this role is vital for us as a department in achieving this. Person specification Qualifications Essential criteria NVQ Level 3 or Equivalent experience Desirable criteria NVQ Level 2 with Specialist A&E Experience Experience Essential criteria Experience of Working in an acute care Setting Evidence of being competent in Venepuncture and Cannulation Desirable criteria Basic Life Support Adults Basic Life Support Paediatric Knowledge Essential criteria Understanding of ED performance targets Knowledge of clinical governance and the importance to perform it Desirable criteria Ability to work under pressure Excellent written and verbal communication skills Ability to prioritise workload It is an exciting time to join the newly formed Bedfordshire Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust.
