The Lead Pharmacist will support the Head of Pharmacy with delegated superintendent duties to ensure regulatory standards are met and bolster the ongoing business development of the Outpatient Dispensary (OPD) and Homecare services. Co-ordinate on delivery of pharmacy services by leading the teams with ownership to deliver a compliant, safe and effective service leading with quality through the governance structure.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Lead the teams to support the delivery of services daily at a high quality, patient-focused service. Plan and co-ordinate Pharmacist resource to associated daily activities.
2. Lead on Pharmacy Complaints and Incidents investigations providing timely reports and escalation to the Superintendent Pharmacist. Support with completion and directing of Corrective Actions and Follow Up stages.
3. Undertake and oversee the induction of all newly appointed Pharmacist team members.
4. Support with recruitment to shortlist and interview Pharmacist candidates.
5. Work towards the delivery of the QEF Pharmacy Key Performance Indicators (KPI) targets and develop and promote stretch targets.
6. Support the completion of monthly internal Governance Checks.
7. Support the Superintendent Pharmacist to deliver risk assessment action plans and support the Change Control process.
8. Assist in the writing of Standard Operating Procedures including adjustment to existing and creating new documents.
9. Support the Superintendent Pharmacist to submit the monthly KPI reports.
10. Support and develop action plans as a result of system non-conformance incident reports.
11. Understand the QE Facilities Pharmacy and QE Facilities Business strategy and objectives.
12. Agree individual objectives at appraisal and performance review meetings with line manager.
Minimum Requirements:
1. Ability to work as a Responsible Pharmacist and promote the legal and regulatory standards of a GPhC registered Pharmacy.
2. Understand the individual role and responsibilities of all staff engaged in the registered Pharmacy and understand when to report issues to the Superintendent Pharmacist.
3. Demonstrate leadership of the Pharmacist team and co-ordinate annual leave requests, sickness absence, appraisal and performance management.
4. Understand the principle of ‘safer care’ and promote a ‘just culture’ environment for error reporting and learning from previous pharmacy incidents.
