About the Role:
We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Payroll Consultant to join our team. In this role, you will provide expert advice and support to clients, ensuring their payroll processes are compliant, efficient, and tailored to meet organizational needs. You will be instrumental in handling payroll systems, legislative compliance, and troubleshooting payroll issues.
Key Responsibilities:
Payroll Management:
* Process end-to-end payroll for clients, ensuring timely and accurate payments to employees.
* Manage payroll data, including new starters, leavers, and changes to contracts.
* Handle statutory deductions (e.g., tax, National Insurance, pensions) and compliance with UK payroll legislation.
Compliance & Advisory:
* Stay updated with UK payroll laws and HMRC regulations, ensuring client compliance.
* Advise clients on payroll best practices, policies, and tax-efficient solutions.
Client Support & Troubleshooting:
* Act as the main point of contact for payroll-related queries from clients and their employees.
* Resolve payroll discrepancies and errors efficiently.
* Provide support during audits and HMRC inspections.
System Implementation & Optimisation:
* Support the implementation and migration of payroll software systems.
* Streamline payroll processes to improve accuracy and efficiency.
Reporting & Analysis:
* Generate and analyze payroll reports, including costing, variance analysis, and statutory filings.
* Prepare and submit RTI (Real-Time Information) submissions to HMRC.
Qualifications and Skills:
* Proven experience in payroll processing, preferably in a consultancy or multi-client environment.
* Strong knowledge of UK payroll legislation and HMRC requirements.
* Familiarity with payroll systems (e.g., Sage, ADP, or similar software).
* Excellent organizational and problem-solving skills.
* High level of attention to detail and accuracy.
* Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to liaise with clients and stakeholders effectively.
* Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel.
Preferred Qualifications:
* CIPP (Chartered Institute of Payroll Professionals) qualification or equivalent.
* Experience in implementing or transitioning payroll systems.
* Knowledge of auto-enrolment pension schemes and statutory reporting.
