Job Title: Primary SEN Teaching Assistant (SEN TA)

GSL Education are on the lookout for a compassionate and proactive Primary SEN Teaching Assistant (SEN TA) to join a supportive primary school in Grantham. This role is perfect for an individual who is committed to fostering inclusive learning environments and ensuring that children with Special Educational Needs (SEN) receive the tailored support they need to thrive.
About the Role:
As an SEN Teaching Assistant (SEN TA), you will work closely with teachers, SENCOs and support staff to provide individualised learning interventions and classroom assistance for pupils with additional needs, including Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), ADHD, Speech and Language Difficulties and Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) challenges.
SEN Teaching Assistant (SEN TA) Responsibilities:
* Provide one-to-one and small-group support to pupils with additional learning needs.
* Assist in the implementation of Individual Education Plans (IEPs) and behaviour support strategies.
* Support class teachers in differentiating lessons to meet the needs of SEN pupils.
* Foster a safe, inclusive and engaging learning environment.
* Encourage the development of social and emotional skills, promoting pupil confidence and independence.
* Use a variety of communication methods to support children with Speech and Language Difficulties.
* Monitor and record pupil progress, providing feedback to teachers and SENCOs.
* Collaborate with external professionals, such as speech therapists and occupational therapists, to support student development.
SEN Teaching Assistant (SEN TA) Job Requirements:
* CACHE Level 2 or 3 or NVQ Level 2 or 3 in Teaching Assistance or Childcare is highly desirable.
* Experience as an SEN Teaching Assistant (SEN TA), Learning Support Assistant (LSA) in a similar primary educational setting is highly desirable.
* A Level 2 or Level 3 qualification in Supporting Teaching and Learning (or a willingness to work towards one).
* Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with a patient and nurturing approach.
* The ability to work collaboratively with teachers, parents and multidisciplinary teams.
* Understanding of various Special Educational Needs conditions, including autism and ADHD etc.
* Strong communication skills and working effectively within a team environment.
* Have an updated CV (covering the last ten years barring any unexplained gaps) and an enhanced DBS registered to the Update Service (or be willing to apply for one).
