A highly reputable Multi-Academy Trust is seeking an outstanding Head of Maths to join the permanent staff team of a GOOD school in Bristol from April 2025. This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced and ambitious mathematics leader to drive excellence in teaching and learning within a supportive and forward-thinking environment.
The Role:
The successful candidate will lead the Mathematics department, ensuring high standards of teaching, curriculum innovation, and student outcomes. They will be responsible for developing a culture of academic success, inspiring both staff and students to achieve their full potential.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Provide strategic leadership and management of the Maths department
2. Drive improvements in teaching, learning, and student progress
3. Develop and implement an engaging and challenging maths curriculum
4. Lead, support, and develop a team of dedicated maths teachers
5. Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of teaching strategies and interventions
6. Foster a love of mathematics across all key stages
7. Ensure high standards of student behaviour, engagement, and attainment
8. Collaborate with senior leadership and contribute to whole-school improvement
Person Specification:
1. Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) and a strong academic background in mathematics or a related subject
2. Proven experience in leading or managing a successful Maths department
3. A track record of improving student outcomes at KS3, KS4, and preferably KS5
4. Excellent knowledge of the national curriculum and assessment frameworks
5. Strong leadership, communication, and organisational skills
6. Ability to inspire, motivate, and develop both students and staff
7. A commitment to fostering an inclusive and aspirational learning environment
