Govia Thameslink Railway (GTR) is the largest Train Operating Company in the UK, operating four brands across London and the southeast of England. Our brands are Gatwick Express, Great Northern, Southern and Thameslink, together operating over 3000 passenger trains plus 900 empty train movements each day completing over 1 million customer journeys.
Working in the York control centre alongside our colleagues at Network Rail (NR), the Train Service Operations Manager (TSOM) offers an opportunity to play a critical part in the delivery of our train service. Our unique geography and the high frequency of the service we operate requires individuals who can handle a fast paced, quickly changing environment. We require exceptional people to meet this challenge with a proactive approach, the ability to think ahead, prioritise tasks, solve problems and plan for the next challenge just around the corner. Using the latest high-tech suite of software, Train Service Operations Managers play a major part in ensuring our customers get safely to their destinations in all types of challenging situations.
To become a member of our dynamic and diverse team of professionals, candidates will be invited to complete an initial online assessment, and those selected will be invited to a further in person assessment day and formal interview. Those successful will be either offered an immediate appointment or enter our talent pool.
The York TSOM has responsibility for the delivery of GTR train services running on the East Coast mainline, between Kings Cross, Moorgate and Peterborough and Cambridge. The role works in close partnership with and to support the GTR control team at Three Bridges ROC, Sussex, and Network Rail colleagues at York ROC, to pro-actively deal with incidents as they arise which affect the train service plan and implementing service recovery, to targets and timescales set, whilst meeting and then exceeding customers' expectations on the delivery of a disrupted service.
Influencing real time service recovery, to ensure the best decisions are made within York ROC by controllers and signallers to maximise the performance of GTR services on the East Coast mainline and branches.
