We’d love to hear from you About the role Hargreaves Lansdown (HL) is now recruiting for a Senior Market Abuse Manager to join the team on a 12-month contract (maternity cover). This is a fantastic opportunity for a Market Abuse expert to grow their career into a management role. You’ll be responsible for managing the Market Abuse investigations Unit (MAIU) and overseeing the market abuse controls at HL, including delivering trade, order, and communications surveillance, maintaining the HL Group market abuse risk assessment, and supporting the business by providing SME knowledge and expertise on queries concerning market abuse. What you’ll be doing Acting as Senior Market Abuse Manager supporting the business to ensure HL remains effective in detecting and preventing market abuse in line with the Market Abuse Regulation and other applicable legislation, industry standards, and regulator expectations. Managing the Market Abuse Investigations Unit (MAIU), who form part of the 2nd line of defence (2LOD), and liaising with the 1st line (1LOD) to provide knowledge, support, and oversight of business activities where there is a risk of market abuse. Supporting and maintaining effective working relationships with 1st line teams including the HLAM stockbroking function and HLFM, ensuring consistent market abuse controls are applied. Overseeing the maintenance and delivery of: order and trade surveillance solutions for the effective detection of activity that may be considered market abuse, including the regular quality assurance of decisions made by the market abuse analysts. an effective internal market abuse communications surveillance solution relevant to the risks present within HL. systems and procedures for the accurate and timely investigation and reporting of Suspicious Transaction and Orders (STORs) and market observations. systems and procedures in place to accurately and efficiently respond to information requirements received from the regulator, law enforcement, and market partners to support market abuse investigations and enforcement actions, and promote industry-wide efforts to prevent market abuse. systems and procedures in place to ensure effective, risk-based actions are taken in response to the submission of a STOR to prevent market abuse and the furthering of financial crime on the HL platform. Ensuring appropriate cases are escalated to the MLRO and considered for reporting to the NCA. Maintaining and evolving a comprehensive assessment of market abuse risk within the HL Group to ensure controls and mitigating actions are appropriate and effective, identifying and implementing change where controls should be added/expanded and engaging with the 1st line to ensure the accuracy and relevance of the assessment. Maintaining and evolving internal market abuse procedures and policies in line with HL’s market abuse risk assessment, regulation, industry best practice, and regulator expectation and feedback. Maintaining effective training and education packages so all HL colleagues understand what is meant by market abuse and the role they play in its detection and prevention at HL. Designing and producing monthly management information reports and support the MLRO in other regulatory reporting and Board reporting as required. Leading, engaging and inspiring direct reports within the Market Abuse Investigations Unit to deliver their best and realise their full potential through empowerment, delegation, and coaching. About you Excellent understanding of the UK’s civil and criminal market abuse regimes, industry best practice and regulator expectations for market abuse. Proven experience in market abuse and financial crime within the UK financial services industry. Proven experience in market abuse order and trade surveillance, communication monitoring, market abuse risk assessments and regulator engagement. Excellent knowledge of the products and services offered within an asset management, wealth management, stockbroking, or financial services firm. Ability to act autonomously and function independently. Excellent written and verbal presentation skills. Ability to work with key stakeholders across the three lines of defence. Experience in a senior compliance or financial crime manager role managing a team of people will be beneficial.
