My client is a utility service provider specialising in delivering integrated power and communications solutions. It is a private equity-backed business that is rapidly growing. Their reputation within the utility industry for delivery has enabled us to secure main contractor status with several clients throughout the fast communications and Electricity Supply Infrastructure sectors.
The Role:
Survey the highways and other ground structures for buried underground utilities to prevent damage from forthcoming excavations and other works that may have the potential to break ground.
Ensure that excavation areas have been thoroughly surveyed using the provided utility drawings. Proactively work with all levels of management to establish and maintain a safe system of work and a secure environment for colleagues and clients.
Responsibilities:
1. You should be familiar with company policies, procedures, and site rules.
2. Regularly inspect and maintain avoidance equipment.
3. Sample surveys of C.A.T. & Genny data
4. Record and file survey data
5. Liaise with team leaders and management to identify underground utilities.
6. Thoroughly survey proposed and excavated routes in conjunction with utility drawings
7. Locate existing underground utilities using RD equipment.
8. Maintain professionalism and avoid conflicts with staff, contractors, and the public.
9. Communicate findings with the project management team.
10. Inspect the team's utility drawings to ensure they are up-to-date.
11. Consider the impact on the public during work (e.g. noise, dust, parking, storage)
12. Report serious breaches or risks to life immediately.
13. Fulfill specific duties regarding health, safety, environment, and quality.
14. Set a good example by wearing the required protective equipment.
15. Report any changes in duties to relevant parties.
16. Promote reporting of near misses throughout the company.
Requirements:
17. Previous experience in a similar role
18. Competent in using RD equipment
19. Ability to read and understand utility drawings
20. NRSWA and CSCS and/or EUSR (core) accreditation
21. Proficient in Microsoft Office
22. Full valid UK driving licence
23. Good communication and organisational skills
24. Knowledge of relevant legal requirements
25. Trustworthiness and discretion with confidential information
26. Self-motivated and able to work in a team
27. Proficient use of C.A.T & Genny (ECAT4+/GCAT4+)
28. Minimum three years experience in highways and/or utilities
29. Street Works qualification
30. Competent in Word and Excel
