We are looking for an ambitious and innovative pharmacist dedicated to excellent patient care and to the development of new services. The ideal candidate will be experienced within community pharmacy and have an established commercial acumen. The post will provide a challenging mix of professional and commercial activities and enhance your clinical knowledge whilst the company works to develop their services.
You will need to be a GPhC registered pharmacist with the ability to work with an experienced team committed to patient care. This is an exciting opportunity to develop your clinical skills in a community environment and embrace different challenges.

Main duties of the job
The clinical pharmacist will carry out day to day activities connected with the preparation and supply of medicines as well as on general health and lifestyle matters. The clinical pharmacist will:? Act as a Responsible Pharmacist.? Be at the forefront for patients by professionally screening prescriptions and counselling patients.? Engage in the continuous quality improvement processes of the pharmacy.? Be responsible for the supervision and training of other pharmacy staff.

Job responsibilities
1. To abide by the General Pharmaceutical Council (GPhC) standards of conduct, ethics and performance as well as standards for registered pharmacies, observing and applying all professional, ethical and legal obligations.
2. To implement and adopt standard operating procedures (SOPs) to ensure procedures are in place for the avoidance of risk.
3. To dispense prescription medicines to patients, clinical checking and ensuring that medicines are correctly and safely labelled and supplied with a complete clinical check as well as provision of the required advice.
4. To supervise the safe preparation of any medicines and other activities within the pharmacy.
5. To keep and maintain a register of Controlled Drugs (CDs) for legal purposes.
6. To liaise with doctors/prescribers about prescriptions to ensure accuracy and prevent risk.
7. To form good working relationships with doctors, prescribers and other stakeholders within the Trust.
8. To counsel and advise patients on the treatment of minor ailments and any adverse side effects of medicines or potential interactions with other medicines/treatments to ensure safe use.
9. To keep up to date with current pharmacy practice including and not limited to new drugs and their uses for the purpose of continuing professional development.
10. Developing relationships with clinical staff to act as the point of contact where clinical services may impact on dispensary processes and implementing changes as required.
11. Provide professional leadership in the pharmacy, ensuring all pharmacy practice, including their own, is within the boundaries described within the latest version of the Medicines, Ethics and Practice issued by the Royal Pharmaceutical Society and General Pharmaceutical Council.
12. Ensuring individual patient needs are met and appropriate actions are taken to resolve issues as they arise.
13. Providing additional services as required and in line with service specifications.
14. Supporting the delivery of best practice throughout the dispensary team.
15. Governance to ensure that all dispensing errors and near misses are logged in accordance with the company's procedures and to undertake any activity necessary to rectify or prevent errors. Identify and manage risks to patients, the public and our staff as well as strengthen safety and assurances within the dispensing process and pharmacy overall. Offering informal responses and, wherever possible, resolution to patient feedback, concerns and complaints. Identifying, implementing and embedding changes to practice as part of continuous improvement processes. This includes taking part in quality improvement to improve patient experience, safety and efficiency. Communicating with other members of the healthcare team, customers and patients to solve problems and ensure high standards of service. To maintain accurate and prompt record keeping. Identifying and managing risks to patients, the public and our staff. Strengthening safety and assurances within the dispensing process and pharmacy services.
16. To professionally screen prescriptions, by: Optimising treatment, where appropriate and in consultation with the prescriber. Confirming compliance with local policy, guidance and formulary requirements. Ensuring the prescription is safe, clear and unambiguous for dispensing and supply by the technical team. Resolve all queries & owing's in a timely manner ensuring no patient harm.
17. Support the manager in business responsibilities and its implementation.
18. Lead and participate in audits to improve the performance in the pharmacy and the Trust.
19. Training: To take ownership of your own learning, development and training including mandatory training. Participate in the delivery of staff training and development. Ensure the correct skill mix is present in the pharmacy and support the manager in implementing this effectively.
20. Champion areas of the dispensary and take accountability for its performance.
