About The Glasshouse International Centre for Music
We’re a place where you can hear rock legends or pop icons on the same night as folk trios or opera singers. About the role
We are looking for a leader to conduct weekly sessions, help singers grow in confidence, and develop their singing skills with an inclusive and supportive approach. Sessions take place in 10-week blocks, with a week’s break in the middle.
Choral Harmony
An ensemble for singers who love harmonies! We will sing some classical favorites, arrangements of folk songs, and gorgeous melodies. Sheet music will be provided, but non-readers are welcome too.
It would be great if you had experience in:
* Singing and/or singing leading at a professional level.
* Leading groups of adults of varying abilities and from a wide range of backgrounds, including those with Additional Needs and/or Disabilities.
* Leading with a focus on achieving personal, social, and musical outcomes.
* Leading music learning using a wide range of approaches and pedagogies.
* Developing and using inclusive music practices and pedagogy.
* Creating music resources to support activities and performances.
* Excellent organizational skills.
* Excellent written communication skills, including the creation of music teaching materials.
* Commitment to teamwork and collaboration.
Skills and knowledge of:
* Community music and musical inclusion.
* The social and personal reasons why people experience barriers to learning.
* The historical origins and social context of the songs and music being used.
* Current policy and plans related to musical inclusion and music education.
You’ll be responsible for:
Strategy and Plans
* Keeping up to date with The Glasshouse policies and plans.
* Maintaining an understanding of the needs of young people and adults alongside the barriers they might experience.
Evaluation and Reporting
* Contributing to the evaluation and monitoring of programme performance as required.
* Supporting and contributing to consultation with adults as required.
* Keeping up to date with current developments in relation to your own performance practice, specialist education, and learning practice.
* Developing and leading high-quality inclusive music learning activities, performances, events, rehearsals, recordings, and resources as agreed.
* Leading exemplary practice in inclusive group singing.
* Supporting the development and maintenance of excellent and inclusive music practice, social and musical pedagogies within Make Music Adult.
* Working with colleagues to remove barriers to engagement and ensuring music learning activities meet a range of different needs, interests, and contexts.
* Attending and/or leading performances, events, and programme activities as required.
* Attending team and organizational meetings as agreed.
* Understanding and working in line with operational handbooks and guidelines.
Marketing and Comms
* Working with the Senior Programme Leader to support effective recruitment of singers.
Health and Safety and safeguarding
* Accepting individual responsibility for reading, understanding, and working in line with Health & Safety, Safeguarding, Equality and Diversity, Dignity at Work and other policies with the Trust.
General
* Advocating for North Music Trust and specifically the Make Music programme.
* Undertaking other duties appropriate to the post and in line with the needs of the organization.
