The Department of Estates and Facilities Management (EFM) at the University of Sheffield is responsible for the management of the University's estate including managing property and facilities and developing new buildings.
This is an exciting opportunity to join the University of Sheffield’s Department of Estates and Facilities Management as a Building Maintenance Supervisor. As part of the Engineering & Maintenance Team you will supervise, co-ordinate and oversee the work of a team of Building Maintenance Technicians as well as working alongside the Electrical and Mechanical Supervisors to ensure progress of multi-trade works. You will carry out building fabric maintenance work, assist staff on site to resolve problems that arise and liaise with contractors and University departments. As Building Maintenance Supervisor you will ensure that all work undertaken is in compliance with the University’s policies, current technical legislation and Health and Safety standards. Liaise with Electrical and Mechanical Supervisors to ensure progress of multi-trade works. Engineering and Maintenance are responsible for the statutory maintenance of building fabric, mechanical and electrical services across the whole campus, as well as responding to sudden, unexpected situations and maintenance projects. We work closely with Faculty and Professional Services colleagues to ensure all our building operational activities support the University’s research and teaching objectives.

The University’s estate contains a wide and varied range of properties which understandably present their own challenges. Some, such as the Arts Tower, are of great architectural importance and must be preserved as part of our national heritage, whilst others such as the award winning Information Commons and the Students’ Union are modern and sophisticated in their design and servicing. Engineering and Maintenance are responsible for the maintenance of building fabric, mechanical and electrical services. The team also have responsibility for: Building Management Systems, Legionella Management, Energy, Landscape Services and EFM Helpdesk
