Job Purpose
* To lead and inspire a combined team of operations and maintenance employees across a number of wholesale production assets.
* The Production Manager will performance manage their team and the assets within the production area to ensure a safe, efficient and compliant outcome.
Job Accountabilities
* A “General Manager” role, not purely technically focussed, responsible for the operation and maintenance of wholesale assets within the production area.
* Responsible for the operations and maintenance budget for the production area and the delivery of the financial business plan.
* Responsible for asset performance and meeting the operational business plan for the production area.
* Responsible for identifying and resolving asset performance issues, utilising support from within the team, or by requesting the relevant support from other teams.
* Accountable for maintaining and driving improvements in compliance, efficiency and Health and Safety.
* Performance management and training and development of direct reports in accordance with all Human Resource policies and procedures, including regular contact, one to one meetings, performance reviews etc.
* Responsible for identifying training needs and/or skills gaps and working towards resolving these.
* Accountable for security and emergency requirements at the sites for which they are responsible.
* As part of the Wholesale management team, contribute to the day-to-day leadership of the area including sharing best practice, implementing improvements plans and leading on activities identified through the business plan development.
* Ownership of key external relationships, including the regulators and customers as appropriate.
* To work closely with key internal stakeholders to ensure asset problems are identified and resolved in the most effective manner and maintenance is carried out in a proactive manner including appropriately planned and profiled proactive maintenance.
* To act as a leader and advocate to deliver change required as part of the business plan.
* To provide an effective operations and maintenance regime for the production area asset, minimising reactive work and work orders and increasing planned proactive activities.
* To ensure both they and their team members work within the clear framework given to ensure effective operations and maintenance of their assets.
* To balance financial, customer service, regulatory compliance and people priorities in order to deliver the business plan and sustainable and effective operations and maintenance regimes.
Knowledge and Skills
* Managerial and leadership skills are critical for this role to deliver performance through a team of people responsible for wholesale production assets.
* Good understanding of operations and maintenance strategies and preferably have some production line experience and the ability to react and keep production moving.
* Effective communication skills able to liaise with internal and external stakeholders.
* A good level understanding of the regulatory and legislative framework surrounding the operation and maintenance of wholesale production assets.
* Analytical skills and the ability to drive solutions to a wide range of technical and managerial problems, whilst also knowing when to stop and ask for help from support colleagues.
* Education, ideally to HNC level (or equivalent) and an experienced line manager in a process or maintenance environment.
* Experience of managing operational budgets and delivering innovative solutions to improve the sustainable operating cost of a production type operation.
