The Royal College of Art (RCA) is looking for a skilled Project Manager to join its Estates Directorate. About the Role As part of the Estate Development team within the RCA Estates Directorate, the Project Manager will oversee a dynamic portfolio of projects across the College’s three campuses: Kensington, Battersea, and White City. These projects include refurbishments of our iconic historical buildings, delivery of our 3>2 Campus unification programme, and other new-build and adaptation projects aligned with our ambitious RCA|Together masterplan. Working closely with the Head of Project Management, you’ll manage projects from inception to completion, to ensure that they are delivered on time, on budget, and to the highest quality. Acting as a technical expert in construction project management, you’ll play a key role in managing external consultants, contractors, and stakeholders while ensuring compliance with statutory requirements and College policies. This role provides a unique opportunity to work in a collaborative, creative environment while delivering meaningful enhancements to the built assets of RCA’s estate. Key Responsibilities Manage a portfolio of building projects, including Major Schemes, Projects, and Minor Works. Develop project plans, costings, risk registers, and programmes with the support of specialist advisors. Lead project delivery teams, ensuring robust performance and value for money through procurement and contract management processes. Coordinate stakeholder engagement, liaising with academic departments, professional services, students, and external parties. Monitor project progress, resolving risks and issues, and ensure compliance with RCA governance and stage gate processes. Manage health and safety considerations and maintain records for building safety files. Ensure a smooth handover of completed projects to the Estate Management team, including the preparation of operational manuals and post-project reviews. What We’re Looking For We are seeking an experienced construction professional with a passion for delivering high-quality projects in a client-side environment. You’ll thrive in a multidisciplinary setting, have excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, and demonstrate the ability to lead projects of varying complexity. A relevant degree or professional qualification in construction project management (or equivalent professional experience). Proven experience in managing construction projects across all phases, from concept design to completion. Excellent teamworking and leadership skills with the ability to inspire confidence and influence at all levels. Strong organisational and time management skills, with the ability to meet tight deadlines without compromising on quality. A high level of computer literacy, including proficiency in project management tools, MS Office, and databases. A proactive, solution-focused mindset with the ability to work independently and make decisions under minimal supervision. £53,954 to £59,999 per annum
