Your Impact
As Grounds Supervisor at Manchester City Academy, you’ll play a crucial role in ensuring our training pitches and grounds meet the highest standards. You will lead a skilled team, working closely with the Grounds Manager to deliver the daily maintenance and operational management of our facilities. From planning the day-to-day tasks to tackling challenges head-on, your expertise will directly impact the success of the Academy.
What You’ll Do:
* Oversee daily and weekly operations, ensuring tasks are allocated efficiently and completed to the highest standards
* Lead a team to maintain the pitch and surrounding facilities, ensuring the highest quality grounds at all times
* Work alongside the Grounds Manager to meet all grounds requirements and support wider departmental goals
* Identify and address any operational issues, ensuring timely solutions to keep everything running smoothly
* Monitor health and safety regulations, conducting risk assessments to ensure a safe working environment
Key Responsibilities:
* Develop and manage weekly planners, taking into account matchday activities and staff availability
* Allocate daily tasks and supervise the team to ensure all tasks are completed on time and to specification
* Assist with fertiliser and spray programmes in collaboration with senior management
* Report any operational issues (e.g., irrigation repairs, breakdowns) and implement timely solutions
* Ensure matchday operations run smoothly (if required)
* Foster team growth by recognising and nurturing talent within your team
* Maintain accountability and responsibility for your allocated area of the Academy grounds
What We’re Looking For:
* NVQ Level 3 or equivalent experience in grounds maintenance, with experience working with playing surfaces
* Strong understanding of grounds maintenance systems, including Desso, SIS, Hero, Fibresand, and automatic irrigation systems
* Pesticides Application PA1, PA2, and PA6 beneficial
* Proven experience in leading teams and motivating staff to achieve high-performance outcomes
* Excellent planning, problem-solving, and communication skills to manage a fast-moving environment and meet fixed deadlines
* Strong understanding of grounds maintenance systems, and comfortable using PC-based tools for reporting and managing data
