This is fantastic opportunity for someone who would like to work in a fast paced, varied role, where no two days are the same whilst ensuring our staff and visitors are kept safe.
We will look to you to provide a safe and secure environment for staff and visitors across the Swansea Estate, enabling core business to function without outside interruption. You will manage the issuance of access passes for employees, visitors and contractors, ensuring that security protocols are followed.
You will also be responsible for inspecting vehicles entering or exiting the premises to ensure they have the appropriate authorisation. This includes checking access passes and conducting security screenings as and when needed.
You will provide direct line management of a small team for staff employed within Security and the Pass Office in order to ensure the effective day to day running of these areas and the functional delivery of the service within the available resources.
The work that you will do is often physically demanding, so we do require a good level of fitness from you. You will be provided with a mandatory uniform and a high calibre of PPE (Personal Protective Equipment) which must be worn on site at all times.
Responsibilities
Your responsibilities will include but will not be limited to:
* Managing operational delivery for a range of security and Pass office functions against service levels to ensure compliance with appropriate standards, identifying areas of non-compliance and taking timely corrective actions to ensure a high standard of service is maintained e.g.
o Pass office activity - processing requests for issue of a range of pass/permits, maintaining records, including lost and stolen passes and ensuring follow up action is taken to retrieve passes where necessary.
o Security shift activity – car and person access checks, point duty, searches and routine patrol activities are carried out.
o Providing a point of escalation for complaints regarding unit performance.
* Providing a range of people and task management activities with timely updates of SAP and associated documents. To include but not limited to attendance management, performance management, appraisal reporting, career development (completion of IDP) and management of underperformance (IUP process) / disciplinary issues, commensurate with maintaining the professional image of the Security unit and Pass office functions.
* Managing a range of compliance issues relating to Pass Office & Security systems and procedures including, Closed Circuit Television systems, Access control, pass control systems and Emergency response to ensure delivery in accordance with current legislation and Agency policy.
* Managing incident response and escalation procedures in accordance with agreed procedures including, co-ordination of evacuation procedures and Emergency service response where appropriate. Providing “On Call” support for the duty supervisor in accordance with escalation / Emergency procedures outside of office hours on a rota basis.

This role will require you to work full time on site.
There will be some travel involved with this role, you may be required to travel to other DVLA sites (Morriston, Swansea Vale and Ty-Felin) to carry out your duties. A Full UK valid driving licence is required.
Due to the nature of this role, you will be required to undergo a physical and medical screening if successful at the interview stage.
