Job Description
The ideal candidate will have 5+ years’ experience processing AV assets for a variety of home entertainment clients to a high-standard. They will be used to working on multiple projects to tight deadlines and will have the ability to adapt, solve problems, communicate clearly, have exceptional time management skills and work well under pressure.
This role reports to the Senior DVD & BD Author. Responsibilities include coordinating and preparing assets, designing and editing DVD menus (in Adobe Creative Suite), processing and encoding AV for DVD and BD, processing AV for digital delivery of content to streaming platforms, and QC of files ahead of delivery.
This position requires exceptional attention to detail, well developed organizational skills, and the ability to solve technical problems with practical solutions throughout the authoring and QC process.
The role includes, but is not limited to, the following:
· AV ingest of digital video and audio
· Conforming AV content to OTT/VOD platform specifications as well as for DVD/BD and proxy files
· Digital asset management, reporting of specs and updating project management systems.
· Preparation of graphic assets using Adobe Photoshop and After Effects
· Encoding assets using various commercial spec encoders & tools, including Cinemacraft and Adobe Media Encoder, ffmpeg & avisynth, and Dolby/DTS encoders.
· Editing, amending, versioning, localising and performing other remedial fixes to AV (including static and motion graphics)
· Full runtime QC of encoded audio and video, against VOD platform or other client specs, with an eye for both technical and content fails
· Creating QAR (Quality Assessment Reports) for ingested assets, and reporting back on findings
· Functionality and navigation checks of authored DVDs and Blu-rays
· Identifying suitable preview clips and chapter points from QCd content
· QC of English subtitle streams for sync and content
· Agreement with and adherence to our security and anti-piracy policies and careful handling of pre-release material
Required skills
· 5+ years’ experience as an AV technician / QC Op
· An excellent knowledge of AV formats and codecs, including different frame rates, multi-channel audio, and SD/HD file outputs
· An excellent knowledge and understanding of Adobe Creative Suite, especially Adobe Premiere, and the workflows therein
· A meticulous eye for detail and an ability to spot errors in the spec or formatting of AV assets and metadata
· Experience of digital media workflows
· Good written and verbal communication skills
· An ability to prioritize and work well under pressure
· A problem solving mind-set and positive attitude
· Flexibility to occasionally work extended hours and/or weekends to meet project deadlines
· A good understanding of subtitling specs and formats
· Must be organized, diligent, and detail-oriented
· Good knowledge of Mac and Windows systems
· Experience of online project management tools (e.g, Google Docs, Trello etc)
· A suitable homeworking environment and setup
Please note that this role will involve 100% remote working.
Hot desking is available in a shared workspace on certain days in both London and Bristol.
Salary - £30k p.a DOE
