As an Engineering Manager at ASOS, your primary responsibility is to the people you manage, ensuring they grow as engineers, assisting in their personal and professional development, and ensuring they have a great experience at ASOS.
You will manage several multi-disciplined engineers across various platform teams with different priorities, supporting them through regular catch-ups, reviews, and personal development planning.
Since you'll interact with engineers across different teams, you'll need to identify common themes or issues that, when addressed, would improve the working environment or delivery efficiency.
You will collaborate closely with peer Engineering Managers to implement cross-team initiatives as part of community delivery plans.
This highly collaborative role requires working closely with your engineers, delivery teams, coaching and competency groups, the wider technology department, and ASOS-wide teams such as People Experience.
What You’ll be Doing
* Line managing up to 20 engineers, setting objectives, and creating Personal Development Plans.
* Mentoring and coaching to ensure high performance and high-quality, impactful work.
* Assessing your team's approach and process maturity, coaching them to adopt Agile methods for successful delivery.
* Partnering with leaders and teams across ASOS to share knowledge and drive organizational change.
* Ensuring engineers have the skills needed to meet business priorities through training and coaching.
* Identifying trends and concerns within engineering teams and addressing them directly.
* Attracting and recruiting top engineering talent.

Qualifications
Who We’d Like to Meet
* A proven track record and passion for developing and growing people.
* Experience in leading, managing, and coaching engineers.
* Experience working across multiple business areas and building stakeholder relationships.
* Advanced understanding of Software Engineering fundamentals, Agile methodologies, and frameworks.
* Experience in roles such as Agile Delivery Manager, Engineering Manager, Development Manager, or ScrumMaster.
* Familiarity with using data for problem-solving, influencing, and decision-making.
