We’re looking for a Payroll and Accounts Assistant to join our finance team. You’ll ensure compliance with legal regulations, handle employee inquiries, and contribute to maintaining efficient financial operations. What You’ll Be Doing As the Payroll and Accounts Assistant, you’ll manage a variety of tasks to ensure smooth payroll and financial processes. You’ll prepare and process accurate payroll for employees, maintain payroll records, and handle statutory deductions such as taxes and pensions. Additionally, you’ll assist with accounts payable and receivable, reconcile bank statements, and contribute to month-end and year-end financial processes. Your role will also involve maintaining and updating employee and financial records, liaising with external stakeholders like auditors and government agencies, and supporting general administrative duties. Key Responsibilities Payroll Processing & Administration : Prepare and process accurate payroll in line with company policies and legal requirements. Maintain payroll records and promptly address payroll and holiday-related inquiries. Calculate and process statutory deductions, such as taxes, pensions, and benefits. Assist with implementing and maintaining payroll-related staff benefits. Accounts Support : Manage accounts payable and receivable functions. Reconcile bank statements and assist with financial close processes. Support the preparation of financial reports and budgets. Administrative Tasks : Maintain and update employee and financial records. Liaise with external auditors, accountants, and government agencies as needed. Perform other administrative duties to support the finance team. What We’re Looking For Experience : Proven experience in payroll processing and/or accounts assistance. Skills : Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., Xero) and Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel. Strong understanding of payroll regulations, tax laws, and compliance standards. Exceptional attention to detail and organisational skills. Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities. Ability to prioritise tasks and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment. Preferred Qualifications : Further education in Payroll, Bookkeeping, or Accounting (HNC or similar) would be a bonus but not essential.
