Job Purpose:
As a Senior Healthcare Assistant, you will play a key role in providing and overseeing the delivery of high-quality, person-centred care for service users.

Key Responsibilities:
Complex Care Delivery:
* Deliver hands-on, specialist care to service users such as tracheostomy care, ventilator support, PEG feeding, catheter care, and medication management.
* Assist service users with daily personal care tasks while promoting independence and dignity.
* Respond to medical emergencies and unexpected changes in a client’s condition, ensuring that the correct protocols are followed.
Shift Leading:
* Lead by example, providing guidance and support to the care team, ensuring all tasks are carried out in line with service users' care plans, Pride’s company policies, and CIW standards.
* Coordinate and supervise the daily activities of junior healthcare assistants, offering mentorship and assistance when needed.
* Oversee and manage service users' schedules, ensuring all appointments and visits are planned in advance and communicated to the necessary parties.
Team Development and Training:
* Serve as a key point of support for junior healthcare assistants, facilitating their training in complex medical procedures and boosting their confidence in delivering care.
* Take ownership of onboarding new staff and identifying ongoing training requirements within the team, ensuring these needs are communicated effectively with care coordinators and nurses.
* Lead by example by actively participating in team meetings and fostering a culture of collaboration, encouraging all team members to attend and engage.
Client and Family Liaison:
* Build strong relationships with service users and their families, acting as a point of contact for any concerns or questions about care.
* Advocate for service users, ensuring their preferences, rights, and dignity are always respected.
Compliance and Documentation:
* Perform regular medication spot checks, monitor stock levels, and ensure timely reordering when supplies are low.
* Conduct routine checks on clinical equipment, such as beds and hoists, ensuring they are serviced appropriately and reordered when necessary.
* Oversee the completion of care records, medication logs, and other documentation, ensuring they are accurate, complete, and up to date.
* Oversee the completion of additional documentation such as handover sheets, risk assessments, and fluid balances.
* Support the care coordinators and nurses in ensuring that care delivery meets CIW standards and audit requirements.
* Promptly report any instances of non-compliance to the care coordinators and nurses.
Requirements for the Role:
* Previous Complex Care Experience required.
* Previous experience in a supervisory role is desirable, but not essential. Commitment to developing leadership skills is required.
* Skills and Qualifications:
* Be enrolled or keen to be enrolled onto a NVQ Level 3.
* Strong communication skills, with the ability to effectively guide and mentor junior staff.
* A thorough understanding of regulatory requirements (CIW, safeguarding, health and safety).
