Mountainview High School is a co-educational school with a dedicated learning support centre that supports 25 ORS verified learners. We seek an energetic and innovative learning support teacher to join our amazing Whare Ako team.
As a learning support teacher, you will:
* Provide targeted, individualised support to students with diverse learning needs
* Work closely with classroom teachers, families, and external support agencies to develop and implement learning plans
* Use a variety of strategies and resources to support students’ social, emotional, and academic growth
* Foster a positive, inclusive environment that promotes student well-being and resilience
* Support students in accessing and succeeding in NCEA (National Certificate of Educational Achievement) when applicable
Key responsibilities:
* Individualised Learning Plans: Develop and monitor individual learning plans tailored to each student’s specific needs and abilities
* Collaboration: Work in partnership with teachers, support staff, and families to create cohesive support strategies
* Progress Monitoring: Assess and track student progress regularly, adjusting support plans as needed
* Inclusion and Advocacy: Champion an inclusive environment, ensuring students with learning differences feel valued and supported
* Professional Development: Stay updated with best practices in learning support and inclusive education
Key requirements:
* Registered with the New Zealand Teaching Council and hold a current practicing certificate
* Experience in Learning Support, Special Education, or a related area, with a strong understanding of diverse learning needs
* Skilled in building positive relationships with students, staff, and families
* Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
* Commitment to the values and ethos of Mountainview High School
