Senior Residential Childcare Support Worker Location: Guildford, Surrey Contract: Full Time, Permanent Starting Salary: Base salary of £28,621.56 with potential earnings up to £30,301.56 with sleep-in shifts Salary after probation: Base salary of £30,305.60 with potential earnings up to £31,985.60 with sleep-in shifts Hours: Approx. 40 hours per week - shift pattern Are you passionate about making a difference in the lives of young people? Our client is looking for a dedicated Senior Residential Childcare Support Worker to join their team in Guildford, Surrey. About the Role Our client operates five residential homes across Surrey and West Sussex, providing a nurturing and supportive environment for young males aged 13-18. Set in rural locations, these homes focus on creating a warm and homely atmosphere that fosters growth, stability, and positive attachments. Key Responsibilities: Take a lead role in ensuring the care, welfare, and development of each child in the home. Plan and prepare activities that support learning, integration, and personal growth. Stay updated on legislation and policies, ensuring compliance with The Children's Act, Children's Homes Regulations, National Minimum Standards, and Ofsted guidance. Support and lead Residential Support Workers, ensuring adherence to policies and risk assessments. Maintain accurate records of young people's progress, achievements, and key life events. Work collaboratively with local authorities to provide outstanding care. Establish and maintain positive relationships with parents/carers, where appropriate. Assist with domestic tasks such as meal preparation, cleaning, and shopping. Maintain clear and professional documentation of all interactions and care provided. Essential Skills & Requirements: Experience working with teenage boys or young people displaying challenging behaviour. Qualifications: Hold a Residential Childcare/Families Practitioner Diploma, Children and Young People's Workforce, or NVQ Level 3 in Health & Social Care (or equivalent). Driving Licence and access to a vehicle (due to the rural location, public transport is not viable). Flexibility to work a mixture of days, evenings, and weekends (including sleep-in shifts, with every other weekend off). Ability to engage young people in activities and support their transition to adulthood. Strong communication skills, both verbal and written. Confidence in setting firm boundaries, challenging unacceptable behaviour, and providing a structured and nurturing environment.
