The Role:
As a Yard Operative you will be responsible for the efficient and safe operation of a depot's outdoor area. This involves a range of physical tasks related to loading, unloading, and storing goods. This role is essential for picking the right products for our customers and productive work environment within the depot. General housekeeping is also key in maintaining safe and clean working environment.
Occasional driving may also be required to help deliver customer orders.
Duties and Responsibilities:
* Health and Safety: Adhere to all health and safety regulations, policies, and procedures.
* Goods Handling: Load, unload, and move goods using manual handling or forklift trucks.
* Stock Management: Store and retrieve goods in designated areas, ensuring accurate stock levels.
* Yard Maintenance: Maintain a clean and tidy yard, removing debris and ensuring proper storage.
* Vehicle Operations: Safely operate forklift trucks and other yard machinery.
* Order Fulfilment: Pick, pack, and load orders accurately and efficiently.
* Documentation: Complete all required paperwork, including manifests, delivery notes, and stock records.
* Quality Control: Inspect goods for damage and ensure products meet quality standards.
* Equipment Maintenance: Conduct daily forklift checks, refuel, and report equipment defects.
* Additional Duties: Undertake other tasks as required, such as stocktaking and training.
How you'll do it:
* You will prioritise health and safety by adhering to all regulations and using equipment correctly.
* You will plan your workload and use time management skills to maximise productivity.
* You will ensure accurate handling of goods and completion of paperwork.
* You will conduct thorough inspections and maintain a clean and organised work area.
* You should be in a good physical condition to handle heavy loads.
* You will collaborate with colleagues to achieve shared goals.
* You will be able to identify and resolve issues to maintain efficient operations.
