IT Infrastructure Manager

The IT Infrastructure Manager is responsible for a national data network and provides technical infrastructure services to include local and wide area networks, server estate, firewalls, data storage, IT security and telecommunications.
The role
As the Infrastructure Manager, you'll provide technical consultancy to the business in support of new business requirements, plan and implement new infrastructure initiatives. This will include research, testing and implementation of a wide range of technologies in:line with business requirements.
This is a hands:on role, requiring both practical and technical expertise and the management of a technical team. In addition to the technical expertise, you'll lead and develop the IT Infrastructure team, working collaboratively to achieve goals. You'll define team objectives, assign responsibilities, oversee daily operations, and monitor team performance.
Accountabilities
:Manage a national data network supporting 1,000 end users andapproximately 120 servers.
:Have a full overview of the network services and applications.
:Provide 3rd line support covering multiple disciplines.
:Ensure the security of the infrastructure, services and apps.
:Ensure IT disaster recovery plan is kept up to date and tested annually.
:Work closely with the business to understand business processes, gather user requirements, and make recommendations.
:Leads in meetings and technical work groups, providing consultation regarding Infrastructure related issues.
:Stays abreast of industry and technology trends as well as emerging tools and techniques relevant to the role.
:Acts as an escalation point for any service issues within the scope of the team.
:Performs reactive root:cause analysis and pro:active trending to reduce further incidents within the scope of the team.
:Line Manager responsibilites to include performance and appraisals.
Location: Stockport. With the option for hybrid working (3 days in the Stockport office) upon completion of the induction/training period.
About you : you need to demonstrate both team leadership and practical experience on your CV:
Team leadership skills and experience
:Strong experience in service continuity risk management and mitigation techniques.
:Managing 3rd party suppliers and fostering a good working relationship
:Excellent communication and leadership skills, with an ability to communicate at an appropriate level for the audience.
:Training, coaching, managingand motivating staff.
Practical experience
:IP networking principles including routing, DNS, firewalls, VLANs, VPN.
:Management and configuration of Azure / M365 / Entra ID (e.g. Security, authentication, app integration)
:Network security principles : design, implementation and analysis of both internal and external security technologies.
:Management of a virtual server environment (VMWare), firewalls and network switches, windows Domain, certificate management, IP Telephony and basic scripting.
:Problem and Incident Management.
:Relevant Industry accreditation preferred e.g. ITIL
:Ability to manage projects. Professional project management accreditation, e.g. Prince 2, desirable.
:Ability to provide clear technical/process documentation.
