We have an exciting opportunity for a Senior Management Accountant in the Financial Accounting team, reporting to the Group Financial Controller. The Financial Accounting team take responsibility for the running of the company’s financial accounting function, lease accounting, non-current assets, taxation, compliance, statutory reporting, and consolidation.
You will play a pivotal role in managing financial operations and ensuring the accuracy and integrity of our financial data. You will oversee the management accounting function to provide timely insight into the performance of the business through the provision of high-quality and value-added management information. Actively driving improvements in margin, cash and working capital through project controlling and overhead control initiatives.
What you will be doing:
5. Coaching, developing, supporting and managing the management accounting team as needed
6. Act as first line of review (preparation where required) and presentation of monthly management accounts for numerous entities, including foreign subsidiaries
7. Oversight and review of monthly management reporting packs including the consolidated group profit and loss account, balance sheet and cash flow statement
8. Oversee project reporting, sales margin reports and all other financial KPIs to drive margin and working capital improvements
9. Review and understand all deferred and accrued balance sheet accounts, ensuring timely analysis of reconciliations of balances at a customer and project level to provide clear visibility of on-hand forecast revenue and margin
10. Ensure that all month-end tasks are completed on a timely and accurate basis
11. Conduct detailed financial analysis and provide insightful commentary on performance against budget and forecast
12. Review of monthly Balance Sheet reconciliations
13. Act as the key point of contact to the wider business, ensuring that the management accounting function provides relevant information to internal stakeholders in a business partnering capacity
14. Monitor and take ownership of key performance indicators for business-wide financial and operation performance and, where applicable, provide recommendations for improvement
15. Work alongside our senior management team to highlight potential opportunities for process improvement and automation across the business
16. Play a key role in the year-end and external audit processes. Responding to any queries on a timely basis
17. Provide support in the preparation of annual budgets and forecasting activities, ensuring alignment with strategic objectives. Assist in this process by providing accurate information concerning revenue, margin, and cash projections
18. Support with ad hoc projects as required by Microlise Group senior management
What we’re looking for:
19. Qualified ACA, ACCA or CIMA or proven track record through demonstrable experience
20. Demonstrable experience working in a management accounting team, in a fast-paced environment
21. Proven ability to manage full-cycle management accounts and month-end processes with precision
22. Detailed knowledge of FRS101 and IFRS accounting standards
23. Tangible experience in managing and developing a team
24. Experience in interpreting financial information and presenting/reporting to Senior Management
25. Advanced user of Excel
26. Ambitious with strong commercial acumen and proven business partnering skills
27. Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to influence and lead
28. Ability to work well under pressure and to tight deadlines
29. Good analytical skills and capacity to draw conclusions/make service-sensitive recommendations
30. Proven ability to develop systems, processes, and controls
It would be desirable if you have:
31. Experience in project accounting
32. Experience of IFS (ERP system)
